Can you face the Mountain?

The Llangynidr Mountain Challenge is back with a vengeance in 2022. Organised by Wheeler Dave Kealaher on behalf of Chepstow CC, the object is to see how many times you can climb this local landmark in a day, raising money for Brecon Mountain Rescue as you suffer. Time trial season ends

Our last TT of the season ran on Thursday 26 August. Competitor numbers were high throughout the summer and there were some great performances by seasoned TT'ers and newbies alike. Big thanks to Simon Williams as always for organising the whole thing and to those other club members who turned up to assist.

Club rides to restart Saturday 1 May

The latest easing of restrictions announced by Welsh Government means that we can start riding in groups again from 26 April.  This means that our first Saturday Social will take place on 1 May with a Sunday club run the following day. Time trials are also set to recommence on 6 May. This is great news as we head towards the summer! For the latest Covid-19 update from Welsh Cycling click here. For details of upcoming rides check out the Events page.

Lockdown Latest

The new restrictions imposed towards the end of 2020 mean another temporary suspension of club rides. So it looks like being a couple of months of solitary riding and hopefully a return to group rides in the spring.

Excellent numbers for recent rides

Turnouts for our Sunday club runs have been excellent since returning after the lockdown was relaxed. Thanks to Simon Williams, Steph Swain and Simon Fairless for training as our Covid officers and making it possible.

Summer 100

The club summer 100 mile ride will be taking place on Sunday 23 August. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for further details.

Sunday club runs restart 2 August 2020

Changes in Welsh Government rules will allow club runs to restart on 2 August. We'll be starting at 08:30 in the car park at Maryport St, Usk. Some restrictions apply so make sure to consult the Facebook page and register before turning up.  Although we have appointed a Covid Officer and groups of up to 30 are legal, we'll be splitting into smaller groups for safety.

2020 time trial season abandoned

We regret that the Covid pandemic has caused our 2020 TT season to be abandoned. We hope to be back to normal in 2021. Keep an eye out for updates in early 2021.

Club members keep active during lockdown

Although there have been no club runs for some time, club members have kept active through the lockdown period by taking part in sprinting and climbing challenges based on selected Strava segments. Congratulations to those taking part and thanks for helping to keep the club going through this difficult period.
